Jon has an extensive involvement with the bicycle industry. He has worked for top industry leaders and companies in product development, providing his frame-making related skills for research and development, as well as just being the "go-to guy" when crucial the job be done right! Jon worked his way up through the ranks as a mechanic, eventually up to the professional level as a team mechanic for the Webcor Professional Mens Team in 2004 and 2005. During the summer of 1989 Jon started in the ranks as a bike mechanic and sales person, molding his skills apprenticing for top industry mechanics, and frame designers and builders.

Since 1994, Jon has been building and selling his custom made bicycles bearing his name, and the hundreds of bicycles he has made are a true example of his commitment to the bicycle industry. Jon's following as a pro mechanic and custom bike maker is strong, and his love for the bicycle is often sensed by his enthusiasm when speaking with him.

Jon purchased his first bike shop, Cycle Craft, in Cupertino, CA in 1996. The shop specialized in road and high-end mountain bikes. Jon's custom bike frame sales quickly overtook shop sales so in 1997, Jon began building frames full-time. After moving to Moab, Utah for three years to work on developing a hard-tail mountain bike frame, Jon returned to the Bay Area where he set up shop inside The Bicycle Outfitter in Los Altos in 2002. By 2004, his frame building operation had grown so much that he had to relocate it to an industrial space.

Jon continued to build custom frames while working as a team mechanic for Webcor. Jon realized that, as much as he loved working and travelling as a team mechanic, he simply couldn't do that and keep up with the backlog of frames he needed to build. In 2005, Jon went back to building frames full-time and in 2006 he relocated to Lodi where he could be near family and put more focus on building frames. Jon served in the Army Reserves and was away on orders from 2008-2009. After returning, Jon decided to open a shop in Lodi and in 2009, he and his wife, Carleen, opened The Bicycle Cafe.
