Bicycle Tune-up Services
Pre or Post-Event Inspection (Bike Wash) - $35.00
The reasoning behind why professional bike mechanics wash their riders' bicycles in the big races is for more than just having a clean bike to represent all the sponsors appropriately. Foremost, the mechanics can meticulously inspect the bicycle for any flaws, potential failures, as well as the mechanical integrity of components that undergo intense or long-term usage. Our staff uses these same principles in all of our service packages, and, as a way of maintaining your bicycle, we suggest a regular, routine Bike Wash. This service also includes a shifting and brake adjustment, as well as a complete safety inspection.
Basic Tune-up - $65.00
After a Bike Wash, we will pull the shift and brake cables out of their housing, lubricate or replace them, reattach all cables and housing, and appropriately adjust all components on your bicycle. We will inspect the wear of your chain and replace it if it is worn out.
Recommended every 1,500 to 2,000 miles.
Comprehensive Tune-up - $85.00
After a Bike Wash, we will pull your drive train (derailleur, crankset, and bottom bracket) off the bike in order to inspect, clean, re-grease, reinstall, and adjust the shifting and brakes of the bicycle. This service is ideal for chain, cassette, and cable replacements as needed.
Recommended every 5,000 miles.
Standard Overhaul - $150.00
After a Bike Wash, your bicycle will be completely disassembled, and all components will be cleaned, inspected, properly lubricated, and reinstalled. A common misconception is that it is OK to ignore certain areas of your bicycle because of sealed bearings that might be used as a part of some component’s construction and design. The reality is that ignoring these areas of your bicycle will lead to equipment failures and unplanned road-side camping.
This service includes completely pulling your headset, or sealed headset bearings where seated, bottom bracket, and the rest of the bicycle components off the bike. If needed, individual components are disassembled, intensely cleaned, and serviced, replacing any parts that are worn out.
We will, if necessary, check the frame, dropouts, and derailleur alignments. After all alignments, we will meticulously reassemble your bike. And, we guarantee your machine will perform correctly. Usually, this service is a good time to replace the handle bar tape, brake and/or derailleur cables, cassette, and chain.
Bicycle Wheel Services
Wheel Truing/Dishing - $15 per wheel
We de-tension the wheel, lubricate the spoke nipples, re-tension the spokes, and then true and dish the wheel.
If a spoke is broken, we will replace the spoke; spokes generally costs between $1 and $4.
Wheel Build - $35 for rear, $25 for front
You can either bring the rim and hub to us, or order them through us; we have many happy customers who have had wheels built using DT Swiss rims and either Shimano or Campagnolo hubs. We use DT Swiss or Saipin spokes for nearly every wheel we build.
Any wheel that we build has a lifetime warranty. We will true the wheel for free and replace any broken spokes free of charge, if the breakage occurred under normal operating condition (i.e. crashes, hard impacts, hub failures, or improper wheel installation are not covered under our warranty).
Tying and Soldering - $25 per side
Bicycle Headtube Services
Head Tube Facing - $25
with Threadless Sealed-bearing Headset Installation - add $5
with Threadless Non-sealed-bearing Headset Installation - add $10
with Threaded Sealed-bearing Headset Installation - add $10
with Threaded Non-sealed-bearing Headset Installation - add $15
If a head tube is not properly faced before a headset is installed, as on this mountain bike, the headset will wear out prematurely. It wears out prematurely because the headset cups are not pressed into the headtube so that they are parallel, causing the headset bearings to be preloaded. Our staff will face the headtube, which will remove the paint and chafe the metal so that the headset - in the case of this mountain bike, a Cane Creek 110 seal bearing headset - will fit with the cups parallel.
Headset Installation
Threadless Sealed-bearing Headset Installation - $15
Threadless Non-sealed-bearing Headset Installation - $20
Threaded Sealed-bearing Headset Installation - $20
Threaded Non-sealed-brearing Headset Installation - $25
Our Headset Installation services assume that your headset has been properly faced already. If it has not already been faced, we can face it for you (see services just above).
Steer-tube Cutting
with a Threadless Headset - $20
with a Threaded Headset - $30
Our Steer-tube Cutting prices include a headset overhaul.
Bicycle Frame Services
Professional Assembly - $150.00
Since new, high-end carbon, titanium, steel, and aluminum bikes vary in design and style, and cost from $2500 to $12000. They require the utmost attention to the specifics of today’s technology.
We will assemble your new bicycle with great care and appreciation of your purchase, and insure our professionalism during the assembly process. Each assembly will include follow-up adjustments at 300 miles or 30 hours of usage, at no extra cost to you.
S & S Coupler™ Installation - $500
If you have a bike that you want to make air-travel friendlier, Jon has been building and installing S & S Couplers™ on bikes for years. The price includes using epoxy-based, automotive-grade primer in either black, gray, or white to treat the heat-effected areas above and below where the coupler is silver-brazed onto the tubes. Repainting the effected areas or the entire bike is an additional charge.
